Mark items and modifiers as sold out
About marking an item or modifier as sold out
If you run out of, or want to no longer sell, an item or modifier you can mark them as “sold out”. Marking items or modifiers as sold out will make sure they don't appear as selectable options while checking out.
Before your begin
You can mark an item or a modifier as sold out from your Square Dashboard and from the Square POS apps and devices.
Mark items as sold out
You can mark an item as sold out if you want to make it unavailable to sell.
To mark an item without variations as sold out:
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Item library.
- Click on the selected item.
- Click Edit variation details within the Variations section, then click Manage stock.
- Toggle off Tracking.
- Toggle on Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online.
- Click Done.
- Click Save.
To mark an item with variations as sold out:
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items.
- Click on the selected item.
- Click on the name of your variation within the Variations section, then click Manage stock.
- Toggle off Tracking.
- Toggle on Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online.
- Click Done.
- Click Save.
To mark an item without variations as sold out:
- Open your Square app and tap ≡ More.
- Tap Items > All items.
- Tap on the selected item.
- Tap Manage stock under the Price and inventory section.
- Toggle ON Mark as sold out at this location > tap Done.
- Tap Save.
To mark an item with variations as sold out:
- Open your Square app and tap ≡ More.
- Tap Items > All items.
- Tap on the selected item.
- Tap Manage stock next to your variation within the Variations section.
- Toggle on Mark as sold out at this location > tap Done.
- Tap Save.
Mark modifiers as sold out
You can mark a modifier as sold out if you want to make sure it doesn't appear as selectable options while checking out.
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Modifiers.
- Select an existing modifier to mark as sold out.
- Click on In stock next to the specific modifier within the Stock status column.
- Toggle off the location(s) where the modifier is no longer available > click Done.
- Click Save.
