Import customers to Square for Franchises

    Square for Franchise’s Franchise Directory is a comprehensive contact management tool that allows you to store and edit customer information, and track their interactions with your business. While you can add customers to the directory during sales, you can also manually import customers in bulk.

    Before you begin

    You need access to your Square for Franchises dashboard and your Square Dashboard to import customers to your franchise account.

    Customers must be imported with a spreadsheet. If you have an existing Customer Directory in your Square account you want to import, you can export your Customer Directory and import it to your Franchise Directory.

    Import customers

    You can bulk import customers to your franchise directory from your Square Dashboard. You can also access your Customer Directory from your Square for Franchises Dashboard. 

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard and select Franchise directory > Manage customers to go to your Square Dashboard. Alternatively, you can sign in directly from your Square Dashboard and go to Marketing & loyalty > Customer directory.

    2. Select Franchise Directory.

    3. Select Import customers.

    4. Drag and drop your file or select it from your laptop or desktop.

    5. Select Next.

    6. Review and assign the fields and select Import.

    Block customers

    You may need to block customers due to ongoing account issues, policy violations, or at their request. How to block customers:

    1. Sign in to your Square for Franchises dashboard, go to Choose Location, and select Central location from the drop-down menu.

    2. Under CRM, select Customers.

    3. Select the customer and click the pencil icon to edit the customer. 

    4. Choose Block, Suspend, or Delete, and add a reason for reference.

    5. Click Save.

    You can unblock customers by editing their profile again and clicking Unblock.
