Edit, merge, or delete customer profiles
About editing, merging, or deleting customer profiles
This feature allows you to update or modify information about a customer stored in your Customer Directory, combine duplicate or multiple customer records that belong to the same individual into a single profile, or permanently delete a customer's record from your Customer Directory.
Before you begin
You can edit, merge, or delete customer profiles in Square Dashboard and Square POS apps.
Merging two customer profiles also merges any files attached to them.
Carefully review profiles being merged. A merge can't be undone
Edit a customer profile
- Sign in to Square Dashboard, then click Customers.
- Click a customer’s name to view their full profile > Edit.
- Make any necessary changes > click Save.
Fix duplicate customer records
Sign in to your Square Dashboard, then click Marketing & loyalty > Customer directory.
You'll receive an alert notifying you there may be duplicate entries if multiple records exist with the same email address or phone number within the All Customers group.
Click Duplicate Suggestion to review the entries flagged as duplicates.
You can choose to ignore entries that aren't duplicates, or click Merge or Merge All to combine confirmed duplicates.
Merge duplicate customer profiles
- Visit your Customer Directory in Square Dashboard and click the duplicate customer profile.
- Click ••• > Merge with another customer > search and select the profile you’d like to merge.
- Carefully review the profiles being combined, as a merge can’t be undone > click Merge.
Delete a customer profile
- From the Customers tab in Square Dashboard, click a customer’s name to view their full profile > click •••.
- Select Delete Customer.
- Read the confirmation and click Delete to continue.
