Create and manage delivery rate profiles with Square

About delivery-rate profiles
With delivery-rate profiles, you can set up customisable delivery options that automatically apply when a delivery order is placed. You can create rules to determine delivery rates by country and service levels which determine costs and speed to deliver.
Before you begin
Delivery rates apply to the delivery destination, not where the order is created.
Square will be moving your Square Online delivery settings from Square Online to Account & Settings in your Square Dashboard. Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible.
There will be a short period of time where Square Online delivery settings will appear both in Square Online and Account & Settings. We’ll make sure we inform all Square Online sellers when the Square Online delivery settings will be completely deprecated in favour of the ones in Account & Settings.
Step 1: Create delivery-rate profile
To start with setting up delivery, you’ll need to create a delivery profile. A delivery profile is a combination of settings that control where and how you’ll deliver your items. Profiles can be edited or deleted at any time. To set up a delivery profile:
Sign in to your Square Dashboard, then go to Account & Settings > Fulfilment > Shipment.
Click Add new profile.

Choose your profile Type from the dropdown menu:
Select Order to apply the profile to all orders available for delivery, or
Select Item to charge a custom rate or set a destination restriction for individual items.
Enter a delivery profile name. This name won’t be visible to customers.
Click Add countries to select the countries where you offer shipping. Click Done.
Click Add rate. Enter the rate name that will be visible to customers at checkout and choose a rate type. Click Done.
Click Save when finished.
You can only assign countries to one profile at a time.
Step 2: Add delivery rates
When adding a rate to your delivery profile, which type you choose depends on what you’re delivering. You can edit and delete rates at any time.
If you choose Order as your profile type, select Free delivery to create a minimum order threshold for your customers to qualify for free delivery. Use this to give your customers a deal on larger purchases. When you select Free delivery when creating a delivery-rate profile:
- Choose which fulfilment orders are eligible for free delivery: All orders or Based on minimum order total.
- If you select Based on minimum order total, enter the minimum order total amount required for free delivery. The basket subtotal before discounts, taxes and fees must be equal to or greater than the specified minimum.
- Click Done > Save.
If you choose Order as your profile type, select Flat rate to charge customers a single fee based on the type of delivery service they select. This is ideal if you want to keep things simple and know that your delivery costs won’t vary much. When you select Flat rate when creating a delivery-rate profile:
- enter the Fee you’ll charge customers for delivery.
- Click Done > Save.
If you choose Order as your profile type, select Based on order total to set a delivery fee based on your customer’s total order cost at checkout. Use this option to discount delivery for customers who spend more than a certain amount on a single order. When you select Based on order total when creating a delivery-rate profile:
- create your order total range by entering the starting and ending prices for the range.
- Enter a delivery fee for the range.
- Click Add row to add another range. ranges can’t have gaps between prices or overlapping prices.
- Click Done > Save.
If you choose Order as your profile type, select Based on weight total to set a delivery fee based on the weight of all items in an order. This can work well when you deliver within a limited area. When you select Based on weight total when creating a delivery-rate profile:
- Enter your weight range and the starting and ending delivery prices for the range.
- Enter a delivery fee for the range.
- Click Add row to add another range. ranges can’t have gaps between prices or overlapping prices.
- Click Done > Save.
items with no weight data will be assumed to have ‘0’ weight.

If you choose Order as your profile type, select Based on number of items to set a delivery fee based on the number of all items in an order. This is helpful if you’re selling items of a similar size and weight and your cost increases when you need to deliver multiple items. When you select Based on number of items when creating a delivery-rate profile:
- Enter your item range.
- Enter a delivery fee for the range.
- Click Add row to add another range. ranges can’t have gaps between prices or overlapping prices.
- Click Done > Save.
