Step 1: Display the National Measurement Institute certified sticker
Square has produced a sticker indicating that the connection between your scale and your Point of Sale software has been certified by the National Measurement Institute (NMI). When you purchase a USB scale or accessory cables through Square Shop, a sticker with the NMI certification number will also be provided.
This sticker must be placed in a clearly visible spot on the device running the Square Point of Sale or Square Retail POS app (i.e. Square Register, Square Stand, Android tablet/smartphone or Square Terminal). The sticker helps NMI field inspectors identify that Square has fulfilled all compliance regulations for the certification from the National Measurement Institute. Contact Square Support if you need a complimentary replacement sticker.
Step 2: Complete on-premise scale inspection
Before you begin trading with your scale, you are required to complete an on-premise inspection by a National Measurement Institute-approved technician to test and verify your scale. Visit the NMI website to download a list of servicing licensees across Australia, along with information on inspection costs and other fees, and any additional requirements needed to comply with government regulations for your business type.
Step 3: Check Extended Control Register (ECR) mode
The CAS PD-2 USB scale needs to be in ECR-5 mode to work properly. To ensure your CAS PD-2 scale is set up in the right ECR (Extended Control Register) mode:

When Ecr SEt appears, release the T key.
